IKEA released their meatball recipe in a press release recently! Of course, we gave it a go! Watch and find out how to make these! :)
Here are the ingredients you will need for a SCALED DOWN recipe.
This makes 10 - 12 meatballs and enough sauce for them.
For the full-scaled recipe, keep reading!
Ingredients:
For 10-12 meatballs:
Beef, ground: 250 gm or 1/2 LB [we used 90/10 ground beef]
Pork, ground: 125 gm or 1/4 LB [we used 80/10]
Onion, chopped: 110 gms or half cup [that is half an onion, medium sized]
Garlic, minced: 1 clove
Breadcrumbs: 50 gm or almost 2 oz
Egg: 1 whole
Milk, whole: 2.5 tablespoons
Salt/Pepper: to taste
Oil, for frying
For sauce:
Butter, unsalted and cold: 20 gms or 1.5 tablespoons
Flour, AP: 20gms or 1.5 tablespoons
Stock, Veg + Beef: [equal quantities of both] 75ml each OR 5 oz
Heavy cream: 75 ml or 2.5 oz
Soy sauce: 1 teaspoon
Dijon Mustard: 0.5 teaspoon
Salt, if needed
Directions:
In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients for the meatballs and make sure they are well combined.
Make into balls and chill for 2 hours.
For the sauce, make roux first using butter and flour. For detailed steps of roux making, refer the video, timestamp 02:01.
Then, add the stock and whisk.
Add the cream, mustard, and soy sauce. Whisk again. Sauce is ready when it falls into ribbons.
To fry the meatballs, take some oil in a pan and fry until golden on all side. Finish in the oven @ 350F for 25mins.
Serve with a side of potatoes. :)
